participation & development for all ages
Fundamentals (3-5 Years)
Early engagement is encouraged as early as 3 years of age. Futsal has the advantage that toddlers will instinctively kick a ball and follow it; therefore we need to encourage this gross motor skill through the introduction of futsal. The Fundamentals stage encourages children to discover the game and focuses on learning basic fundamental movement skills, balance, and coordination and creates a positive futsal experience.
Formative (6-8 Years)
During the Formative stage, futsal should be played for fun and enjoyment with the focus on players being creative with the emphasis on self-discovery. This will help establish a foundation for players in terms of fundamental core skills and game awareness as well as develop a passion for the sport.
Participation (9-11 Years)
These ages in the development of children are the years where they are most open to learning and acquiring new skills and provide the ideal opportunity to build on core futsal specific skills along with basic movements.
These are the critical years in developing and reinforcing individual technical excellence to ensure that players are technically proficient.
Performance (12-13 Years)
During these years coaches need to be mindful of human development factors associated with puberty and growth spurts. Technical and physical abilities are no longer solely sufficient for success, and a high level of dedication, self-determination, hard work and discipline play an important role.
Excellence (14-16 Years)
This stage is focussed on further improving core skills and tactical abilities.
Players should be introduced to more advanced training methods and are able to handle the greater training load necessary.
